Downtown Dining Week 2016

For ten days, once a year, it becomes foodie paradise in Edmonton downtown. This year Downtown Dining Week featured 36 different restaurants and it ran from March 11th to the 20th. These restaurants all feature set multi-course meals at set prices: $15 for a two course lunch meal and $28 for a three course dinner meal or $48 for an executive dinner meal. This year my girlfriend and I had the opportunity to try out three of these amazing restaurants.
Rostizado
Course 1: Sopa Azteca to start
House made chicken broth with pulled rotisserie chicken in a tomato, chipotle pepper base, topped with crispy tortilla strips and avocado.

Course 2: Cemita Cubana
Roasted pork and bacon grilled into a sandwich with house made pickles, cheese and a smoked pepper mustard.

Course 1: Churros for dessert
Striped of fried Mexican dough cated with sugar and cinnamon. Served with dulce de leche.

Course 2: Huarache de Pollo
Pulled rotisserie chicken served in a smoked potato pureé tartlet, lined with béchamel and topped with picked enoki mushrooms, red onion and avocado cream salsa.

Course 1: Mona Mushroom (Prairies)
Red lentil soup with Lemon créme fraiche.

Course 2: Carmen Creek (North)
Bison lasagna with “harvest green” micro green salad and Saskatoon berry vinaigrette.

La Ronde
Course 1: Mushroom Chowder
Wild Alberta woodland mushroom chowder.

Course 2: Maple and Black Pepper Baked Salmon
Served with lemon sage butter sauce, grilled fingerling potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

Course 3: Lemon Raspberry Tart
