Craving Italian street food in Sherwood Park? From the same restaurant group (Crave It) that brought you Burger’s Priest in Edmonton, Via Cibo is a fast-pace casual Italian restaurant that will satisfy your cravings. They are located on Baseline Road and have been opened since last year November (2015).

When entering the restaurant, you are greeted with friendly staff and large menu boards hanging from behind the counter. While walking towards the register, the open kitchen allows you to view the chefs cook and experience their Italian cooking. On the menu, you have a wide range of selection to pick from, they have: piadinas, paninos, pastas, pizzas, insalates, various entrees and best of all desserts and coffees. If you are there during brunch, they also have a separate brunch menu that had Nutella toast on it, I would definitely go back just to try this.

My girlfriend and I were here for dinner and we ordered chicken and portobello and the gnocchi from the dinner menu, a latte and a cappuccino as our drinks and some Fiasco Gelato as our dessert. The drinks and food came out relatively quick and the portions were generous.

The chicken and portobello comes with sautéed chicken, grilled portobello and garlic white wine cream sauce with your choice of side greens, pasta or a house salad. I have got to say that the portobello mushroom was amazing, I would literally just eat a meal with just these mushrooms. As for the chicken, I found it was a tad dry but the cream sauce definitely helped. Perhaps next time I would like to try the Pollo Parmigiana instead.

The gnocchi comes with gorgonzola cream sauce, pancetta, slow roasted tomatoes, green onions and grana padano cheese. We decided to get this entrée as it was highly recommend on various food review sites and I had to give it a try. The gnocchi was soft but not mushy and the texture came out very consistent. Overall, Via Cibo cooked this entrée perfectly and out of the two items we ordered, I liked this one better.

Via Cibo is a great causal restaurant and is a good addition to the cluster of restaurant in the Baseline Road area. The friendly service, tasty food at a reasonable price is worth checking out if you near the Sherwood Park area.
